British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB)


Level 1 Responsible Alcohol Retailing (ARAR), 3 hrs, £70 per candidate

For anyone working on the licensed retail sector, who is involved in the sale of alcohol;
Bar staff, Waiters/waitresses, Shop assistants/cashiers.

Award in Jersey Licensing Law (AJLL), 3 hrs, £75 per candidate

Meets the needs of the local hospitality and retail industries and relates to the current Jersey Licensing Law.  This is designed for supervisors and management working in any area that includes the sale of alcohol and will bolt-on to the NCPLH.

Award for Personal Licence Holders, 4 hrs, £140 per candidate

For those wishing to apply for a personal licence in the UK, they must hold a government approved qualification, such as the BIIAB NCPLH.  This qualification has been developed with experts from the industry to make sure it truly meets the needs of those who want to succeed.  This course covers the syllabus set by the UK government to enable candidates to understand the English law and the issues associated with running a licensed business.

Award in Licensed Hospitality Operations, 22 hrs, £250 per candidate

This level 2 qualification is designed for those new to running or looking to run, licensed retail premises. Covers the areas of management responsibility that are essential to run a licensed retail business successfully; including;  Stock Control, Employment law, Financial management, Marketing & merchandising, Staff recruitment & training, Health & Safety at work, Customer service, Management of internal/external areas, Trade descriptions, Weights & Measures. 

National Certificate in Licensed Retail (NCLR), 29 hours, from £390 per candidate

Covers all the subject areas that licensed premises managers need to be aware of when running their premises.  Is achieved by completing the NCPLH & the ILRO. The Level 2 NCLR is an overarching qualification designed to cover all the subject areas that are necessary to run a profitable and successful business. Local candidates may wish also to take the AJLL which will provide an unequalled display of knowledge and provide due conformity towards local licence application pre-requirement.
