Marketing Success For Tourism
09|07|2010The television advertising which launched last week as a major element of the stimulus funded marketing campaign, has produced an immediate impact with a significant spike in enquiry levels to Jersey.com and corresponding bookings throughout the industry.
The timing could not have been better with the distractions of the World Cup coming to an end, brilliant weather in Jersey, and an increased demand in the UK for last minute holiday deals.
Enquiries on Jersey.com peaked on Tuesday which was the 5th day of the television campaign with 8,000 unique visitors about double the number which we would normally receive at this time of the year, and at a Marketing Panel meeting on Wednesday, industry leaders were in buoyant mood following increases of up to 50% in bookings taken over the previous week.
There are still several weeks of additional marketing to come, with television, Classic FM radio, and press to provide ongoing opportunities for additional business throughout the high season.
We hear that there may be some availability shortages for family accommodation in the coming weeks, particularly on the offers section of Jersey.com and JerseyLink, so we would urge accommodation providers to highlight their family friendly products.

ABTA Schools Art Challenge
Jersey Tourism and Jet2 recently joined forces to support the ABTA Schools Art Challenge. The Challenge formed part of ABTA's 60th anniversary celebrations and was open to primary school children across the UK, aged between 7 and 11. Pupils were invited to look into their holiday heritage and create three postcards to express and visualise the past, present and future of holidays and travel.
The Challenge provided an opportunity for us to raise awareness of the industry as a whole, and our island in particular, to thousands of children across the UK. We supplied examples of Jersey's promotional material from the last five decades, which formed part of a gallery for the children to use as inspiration for their postcards.
As sponsors of the North West region, Jersey Tourism and Jet2 provided a prize for flights to a family of four from Blackpool to Jersey - the recipient of which was 11 year-old Amy Picton. Her prize-winning entry can be viewed here.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place at St Bede's Catholic Junior School in the next few weeks, where it is hoped a representative of Jet2 will join Jersey Tourism's UK Sales Manager, Robin Segal, to present the prize to Amy. We look forward to welcoming her and her family to Jersey in the very near future.
