Petition Nears 1,000 Signatures
16|07|2010Hot on the heels of Jersey experiencing the sunniest June on record since 1976, the petition to get Jersey on national weather maps nears 1,000 signatures.
Almost 340 hours of sunshine was recorded at Fort Regent last month with an average temperature of 16.7°C.
Jersey receives over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, more than anywhere else in the British Isles, whilst also boasting the warmest summers and mildest winters.
Jersey is just a short trip from many airports and ports throughout Britain, and potential customers may not be aware of just how glorious the weather can be.
In recent weeks we have experienced weather in Jersey which is significantly better than many parts of the UK, making this weather issue really important from a business perspective.
We are now in high season, experiencing an upturn in business, making this the ideal time to deliver the petition and generate the maximum publicity for our cause which is to seek proper representation for our superior weather.
If you haven't already done so, please add your name to the list and invite colleagues, family and friends to follow suit.
You can access the petition online here.
