Destination Jersey
Travel Trade Workshop - May 2010
2010 Event Review - May 21, 2010:
The Tour Operators workshop and social events of earlier this week have been declared a great success by many of the participants and we have received many favourable comments. The main objective was to secure improved working relationships between the wholesale trade and our suppliers with an eye on 2011 and this has been achieved through the 900 appointments on Tuesday and the excellent social programme.
The venues were excellent, the newly refurbished Beach House Restaurant at Ouaisne Bay provided a perfect setting for the welcome barbecue as the sun set on Monday evening and La Mare Wine Estate proved to be the perfect venue for the Gala dinner with a sumptuous local menu served with the compliments of the Jersey Hospitality Association.
The spirit of the occasion was perhaps best shown by Rik Coppens, General manager of Belco Travel and Tours in Belgium, who travelled to three different airports and then drove by car to St Malo following the cancellation of his flight on the Monday morning. He fully deserved the Apple Brandy presented to him by the Minister for his determination to get to Jersey.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who participated including Rik and for making this event such a success. I have no doubt that this will lead to improved business levels later this year and throughout next.
