There is no better ambassador for the island than a local resident and many local people in Jersey have expressed an interest in helping to promote their Island. Many of these people have commented that had they known more about events in advance they could have arranged for visitors to travel to the Island at different times.
In 2004, the Jersey Tourism Board published its three year strategy review – 'Making a Difference'. The review called for the setting up of a group of people interested in local tourism who would like to help promote the Island of Jersey.
Island residents are now invited to join the Friends of Jersey Tourism. Membership is also open to Jersey enthusiasts living abroad. The Friends will help disseminate information about what is happening in Jersey and help make visitors to the Island feel welcome.
A membership database is managed by Jersey Tourism and members are encouraged to help grow membership by introducing other members to the association.
Upon registration each member will be supplied with an information pack. Jersey Tourism will advise Friends of upcoming events and Friends will be able to order brochures that are of interest to them. Apply here.
