Shopmobility
This is a scheme available all over the UK, whereby visitors to a particular area can use a self-propelled scooter or wheelchair within its shopping district. Jersey’s Shopmobility scheme operates from:
Lower Ground Floor
Sand Street Car Park
St Helier
Tel: +44 (0)1534 739672
Web: www.shopmobility.org.je
Email: info@shopmobility.org.je
Electric scooters/chairs and manual-push chairs are available 10am - 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, except on bank and public holidays. Prior booking is preferred but not necessary. Full advice on the equipment will be given.
For tourists and non-members (i.e. the temporarily disabled), the charge will be £5.00 per day. This includes parking, whether the person is a Blue Badge holder or not.
For long-term disabled who are in Jersey for extended periods or live permanently in the Island, the charge will be £30.00 per annum with a £2.00 daily fee.
Those using the service can park for free on the lower ground floor at Sand Street for an unlimited time between 8am and 5pm while they use the chairs.
A Shopmobility scheme also operates at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and Jersey War Tunnels during regular opening hours. Scooters are available to rent for £5.00, as well as wheelchairs and Zimmer frames for £2.00. Pre-booking is advised.
