The Muratti Vase

Each year the best footballer’s from Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney are selected to compete in the Muratti Vase. 2005 celebrated the centenary of the event.

Alderney always takes part in the semi-final (which they play at home) and each year Jersey and Guernsey alternate in competing against them. The winner of the semi-final goes on to play the remaining island in the final.

The winner of the competition is awarded the Muratti Vase. The name of the event derives from its first sponsors, “Muratti’ cigarettes and apparently these can still be bought in Switzerland!

The semi finals are held in March and April whilst the final is always held on the first bank holiday weekend in May.
