Sunset Concerts

The Sunset Concerts are enjoyed annually by more than 2,000 music lovers, in the fabulous natural amphitheatre setting of Grantez in St Ouen. This year the concerts will celebrate the musical excellence of both local and Jamaican talent.

Free to attend, the Sunset Concerts provide the perfect excuse to pack a picnic and a bottle of wine, head to the beautiful Grantez headland and soak up the excellent music whilst the sun sets.

This year The National Trust for Jersey 'Sunset Concerts 2012' in association with Ashburton will celebrate the musical excellence of both local and Jamaican talent and are the perfect excuse to pack a picnic and a bottle of wine, head to the beautiful Grantez headland and soak up the excellent music whilst the sun sets.

Two bands will perform this year; Friday evening, 29th June, will be Giles Robson and the Dirty Aces, a superb 4 piece harmonica led Blues Rock band. On the Saturday night, Skatroniks Jamaica perform. They are a 9 piece group who play uplifting Ska Reggae Jazz. This year Jamaica celebrates its 50th year of Independence, so this band fits perfectly for sun and celebration.

There are two open air, early evening concerts being held at Grantez, Le Chemin du Monts, St Ouen. Site opens at 17.30, music starts approximately 19:15 and finish at approximately 21:15 (at sunset). There is parking on site for around 250 cars, at a charge of £5.00 per car. Typically, those attending bring picnics to enjoy whilst listening to the music and watching the sun set.

Friday 29th June - Giles Robson and the Dirty Aces

Ranked in Classic Rock Magazine’s Top Ten Blues albums of 2011, Giles Robson has already been hailed as the most exciting new harmonica virtuoso’s of his generation by blues harp legends such as Sugar Blue and Paul Jones. Rising at breakneck speed through the Blues world since forming, Giles Robson & The Dirty Aces raw and unique twist on the Blues have not gone unnoticed, with everyone from BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans & Radio 6’s Tom Robinson to Blues in Britain giving the band rave reviews.

With a voice recalling the legendary Charlie Musselwhite, Robson is already establishing himself as one the freshest, most exciting new Blues artists to arrive in recent times and is sure to continue his fast ascent through the vibrant UK and international Blues scenes.

Saturday 30th June - Skatroniks Jamaica

Skatroniks Jamaica's music rejuvenates & blends ska, jazz, reggae, & host of other Caribbean party music with scintillating horn melodies provided by a dazzling horn section.

As a live act, Skatroniks Jamaica posess an awesome stage presence, that conjures a spontaneous affinity with appreciative audiences. These elements are an important facet to their showstopping live performances; where they sound just like their record.
