Eating out here is a way of life, and visitors to Jersey will surely relish sampling the dishes on offer. However, if you are one of the increasing number of people who have to follow a gluten- free diet and worry at the mere mention of eating out, Coeliac UK’s local Jersey support group wish you a warm welcome to Jersey.
We are working with Jersey’s Economic Development department to increase awareness in Jersey’s restaurants shops and hotels, to make life easier for those who follow a gluten-free diet and still want to enjoy the spectacular local produce and menus on offer. Jersey offers an increasing range of local restaurants and eateries which can cater for a gluten-free diet, and many local food producers sell produce that is naturally gluten free, including our own Jersey Dairy.
It is important when eating out to discuss your dietary requirements with the waiter, chef or manager on arrival at a restaurant, to ensure they are aware of your requirements. We also recommend phoning restaurants in advance to ensure they are well prepared to cater for you.
