Jersey Lavender Farm

A working farm where you can explore the picturesque gardens and lavender fields. Discover how the therapeutic lavender oil is extracted and, at harvest time, watch the essential oils being distilled from the flowers.

Jersey Lavender is a family-run business. They grow, harvest and distil lavender to produce pure lavender essential oil. This lavender oil is the key ingredient in their range of toiletry and perfume products. Rosemary, eucalyptus, bay laurel and cypress are also grown and distilled on the farm and their oils are used in the same way.

The story of Jersey Lavender goes back to 1983 when Alastair Christie's (owner of the farm) parents inherited a disused dairy farm. Too young to retire, they wanted to bring the land back to life and, after extensive research, decided to grow lavender as an agricultural crop and to develop a business around it. St. Brelade in Jersey has free-draining, sandy-loam soil and a mild climate, providing perfect growing conditions for lavender.

The first 25,000 rooted cuttings - three varieties of Lavandula angustifolia - were carefully planted out in the fields later that year and Jersey Lavender was born.

Visit the farm, feed the chickens and treat yourself to homemade food at Sprigs Café and unique products in the shop. Jersey Lavender – it all makes perfect scents!
