The Lighting of the Christmas Trees

From Christmas past to Christmas present - To launch the festivities the town’s Christmas trees are illuminated. The evening begins in historic Royal Square, surrounded by its traditional architecture, as the lights on the old chestnut trees are switched on. Then it’s on to the The Spirit of Christmas Market.

Markets

Running for the duration of the festival; the Spirit of Christmas market is filled with beautifully decorated Christmas chalets where local craft workers sell gifts and decorations. As you tick off your Christmas wish list, warm up with mulled cider, coffee and cupcakes or delicious hot food. Visiting Street Theatre will help to put you in the Christmas mood!

You can also experience the sights and smells of neighbouring Normandy with Lé Marchi Nouormand’ - a Norman French Market which is taking place in the Royal Square mid-way through the Christmas Festival. Here you can peruse the stalls for crêpe pans, Norman cider, fruit and nuts, hand made soap, biscuits and honey.

Spectacular Christmas Parade

A festive Christmas parade is held which marks the finale of the Fête dé Noué celebrations. It features floats as well as live music and street theatre.

Street Theatre

Don’t be alarmed if you find a festive fairy, a giant elf or a mischievous snowball following you as a whole bunch of performers hit the streets for your amusement. Street entertainers will be around town wowing Christmas shoppers and performing at the Spirit of Christmas Market.
