A castle, a beautiful beach, harbour-side shops and plenty of places to have an al fresco lunch with sweeping sea views. It’s not hard to see why so many people fall in love with the relaxed village atmosphere of Gorey.

This chic village on the eastern side of Jersey is also the place to find some exclusive gifts. It’s worth taking time to explore Gorey village, with its narrow streets lined with pretty fishermens’ cottages. The Victorian-style corner shop Rosedale Stores is a local institution and you can find fresh local produce at the Gorey Fruit Shop. Don’t miss Eclat, a gorgeous character boutique crammed with unusual gifts and some charming childrens clothes and accessories. Back at Gorey Harbour, there are souvenir shops tucked away in courtyards, along with the Jersey Pearl jewellery shop to browse as you walk beside the boats. The Old Sail Loft sells relaxed nautical fashion and just up the hill you’ll find Bijoux, another beautiful boutique selling French-style home accessories and chic gifts.

After all that shopping, the only choice you’ll have to make is where to stop for lunch. From modern British to Scandinavian classics, fresh seafood to sandwiches, there’s plenty of restaurants to choose from, and they all come with stunning harbour views so you can watch the tide come in as you enjoy your lunch.
