The designation "Royal" was granted to the Jersey Yacht and Rowing Club in 1862 by her most gracious Majesty Queen Victoria. However, it has not been possible to ascertain exactly when the club was founded. Certainly in 1862 it became the Royal Jersey Yacht Club and in 1869, by royal sanction, it became the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club.

St. Catherines Sailing Club is Jersey's largest dinghy sailing club, and the most southerly sailing club in the British Isles. We have some of the most spectacular views of Jersey's coastline along one side of the bay, with the protection of St. Catherines Breakwater, stretching out for just over 640 meters along on the other. St. Catherines Sailing Club is a small yet extremely friendly club, providing dinghy sailing, training, social events, cruising and powerboat courses all year-round.
