Whether you ride for pleasure, convenience or fitness, Jersey is a playground for riders of all levels. Most of the island’s roads are well suited to both small and large groups, and we have put together eight advanced routes for the ultimate group cycling adventure. These include the popular training routes used by local athletes and avoid the speed-restricted Green Lanes, so you can push the pedal down and watch the world fly by. You can scope out these routes before you go using the Relive app or Strava. This is the largest of the Northern loops and takes in fantastic coastal scenery with perfect panoramas of the Normandy coast and islands beyond. SOUTH A – ADVANCED CYCLE ROUTE Distance: 9.1 miles / 14.6 kmGrade: ModerateNumber of climbs: 3Elevation gain: 176 metresPit stop: La Fregate, Old Station Cafe This southern route starts at sea level and winds its way upwards through the lush green heartland of Waterworks Valley - the perfect way to experience farm, field and sea in one ride. After heading East you can rest your tired legs as you cruise back through St. Helier. A good choice for a windy day. As you coast through St. Peter’s Valley’s peaceful rolling roads you will discover dips and climbs to keep you on the edge of your saddle. This ride also has a few steep climbs to test the mettle of your stronger riders. Extremely cycle friendly. The Museum In the heart of St. Helier, the Museum is set in the entrance to the Jersey Museum. East A – ADVANCED CYCLE ROUTE Distance: 19.7 miles / 31.5 kmGrade: Moderate/HardNumber of climbs: 7Elevation gain: 276 metresPit stop: Green Island, Gorey, St. Catherine’s Breakwater café, The Hungry Man, Café Firefly at Jersey Zoo Conquer the entire Eastern coast on this epic ride which takes in the sweeping Southern beaches all the way up to the rugged Northern cliffs. This is the longest of the advanced routes but you can rest tired legs in a quiet spot in the countryside along the way. This route is perfectly suited to large groups. With many dips and climbs it’s a great workout through Jersey’s lush countryside. Eat & Drink The Hungry Man A visit to the east of the island is not complete without enjoying the taste and location of The Hungry Man The Works If its coffee and cake that you crave then pop by The Works as you pass through Gorey. Stay Beachcombers Hotel Just 5 minutes walk from the Royal Bay of Grouville and a 5 minute cycle to the stunning Gorey Village on the island's east coast. With its rugged natural beauty and long uninterrupted roads, it’s easy to see why. This is an epic ride along smooth strips and rolling hills set against spectacular scenery. Long roads and low traffic make the Wild West the perfect place for group training and practising group riding skills. Do as the locals do and make a pitstop for coffee and a Jersey crab sandwich at a beachside café along the way, and refuel as you watch surfers ride the waves of St. Ouen’s Bay. Download Route View Relive video Komoot route West B – ADVANCED CYCLE ROUTE Distance: 13.75 miles / 22 kmGrade: HardNumber of climbs: 5Elevation gain: 255 metresPit stop: Le Braye Café, The Boat House, Portelet Inn This route takes you coast to coast, from the sheltered calm of St Aubin's Bay to the windswept wilds of St. Ouen. The die-hards can take a detour up ‘Ghost Hill’ and push for the burn on a very sharp incline. This challenging route is part of the Island Games and Jersey Triathlon Time Trial course and is a fantastic way to test your limits in a spectacular setting.
