About

Set in 16th Century Britain, Donizetti’s historical drama follows Mary, Queen of Scots and her bitter rivalry with the cousin responsible for imprisoning her, Queen Elizabeth I, and thrills with intense stand-offs and impressive vocal displays.

Soprano Diana Damrau and mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton square off as two of history’s most formidable monarchs, with Maurizio Benini conducting.

Location

Built in 1865, Jersey’s Opera House is one of the island’s iconic landmarks - the theatre as it stands today was re-opened by Lillie Langtry in 1900, after it had been destroyed by fire on the 28 March 1898. A host of cultural events take place throughout the year.
