From rockpooling to the savoury Jersey ice cream, there are plenty of coastal activities that can bring fun for the whole family.

Rockpooling

Explore Europe’s largest rocky intertidal zone. When Jersey’s tides drop, the warm beach rockpools are left teeming with life from tiny crabs and fish to colourful anemones. Stay still and keep quiet, and adventurous rockpoolers will be rewarded with glimpses of sea creatures at their feet. Try Grève de Lecq and Green Island at low tide for easy access rockpooling - just don’t venture too far out.

Hunting for buried treasure

A stroll along a Jersey beach is like participating in an endless treasure hunt whose gold and jewels are the myriad of sea creatures that live among the sand and rocks or are washed onto the shore from deeper waters. With over 300 different species of seashell and long sandy beaches on which they may be washed up, Jersey is one the best places in Europe for collecting shells.

Ice cream

Our famous Jersey cows have been making the creamiest, richest, and smoothest ice cream in the world since 1763. Fact. Probably the reason why Jersey Dairy ice cream is just too good to pass up. Best enjoyed with the sand between your toes, or as a sweet treat after a hard day's exploring as the sun sinks over Corbière Lighthouse, or shared with a special someone for a generous scoop of happiness. Best enjoyed with a sea view and sandy toes.

Woodland wander

Find your own path through some of Jersey’s wooded valleys - worth a visit as they change colour through the season. St. Catherine’s Woods is one of Jersey’s best known woodland walks, with stepping stones to cross, rope swings to discover and plenty of leaves to kick your feet through. Don’t forget to look out for Jersey’s native red squirrel…
