The adventure begins.

‘Go Wild Gorillas’ is a wild and wonderful sculpture trail around the island break to celebrate Jersey Zoo’s 60th anniversary and raise important funds to help care for its family of western lowland gorillas. Follow the trail to discover 40 life-sized gorilla sculptures dotted around Jersey’s wild spaces, brought to life by the imagination of local and international artists. Gorillas have taken over our streets and wild spaces, leading the curious to stunning panoramas and insta-worthy spots. As you explore and discover Jersey’s wild side, see if you can spot our very own #theislandbreak gorilla.

(He’s highly photogenic).

INTRODUCING...

MEET THE ISLAND BREAK GORILLA.

He’s big, he’s beautiful and he’s highly photogenic. Our gorilla friend has been on an adventure in Jersey’s wildest spaces before finding his new favourite spot near La Corbière lighthouse. Take a #gorillagram picture with the island break gorilla for a chance to be featured on #theislandbreak feed!

A WORD FROM OUR ARTIST

MEET LAUREN

"I worked closely with Visit Jersey on my Gorilla design, developing an idea that showed glimpses of what the Island has to offer in its various forms; from the amazing variety of fresh food, to revitalising outdoor experiences, or just the simple joy of relaxing on one of its many beautiful beaches. Jersey has so many stories to tell, and the idea of creating an illustrated map of the island gave me the opportunity to capture the colour and beauty of island life, all in one image."

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

WHY GORILLAS?

The life-size gorilla sculptures have been placed across the island for the best of reasons. The project combines art and conservation to raise important funds to help Jersey Zoo care for its much-loved family of western lowland gorillas. Beyond this, it is about inviting people to reconnect with nature and explore Jersey’s great outdoors. So we invite you to go wild for this worthy cause and if you feel a little closer to nature, pay it forward to help Durrell rewild our world.
