Places to wrap your hands around a cup of something warm

Come in from the cold to these warming cafés

Spending time in the fresh air, surrounded by nature really does do us good. Energising and exhilarating, getting out in the sea air is easy on an island, whether it’s following a winding cliff path high above the sea or beach walks next to the water’s edge. And when you’ve blown away the cobwebs, be sure to warm up with a cup of something warm at one of these beach cafés you’ll find along the way.

Colleen’s, Grève de Lecq

Walking the cliff paths of the north coast? Start off on the right foot with a slap-up breakfast at Colleen’s, or make a stop for coffee and a slice of homemade cake from the moreish selection on offer. This friendly café is a local favourite, set right beside the beach at Grève de Lecq.

El Tico, St. Ouen’s Bay

The miles of sand that stretch the length of St. Ouen’s Bay with its crashing Atlantic breakers make for an exhilarating walk at any time of the year. Break up your walk with a coffee break at the contemporary seafront El Tico, where you can settle down by the windows at the wide refectory-style tables and watch the waves roll in.

Lookout Café, St. Aubin's Bay

This cosy beach café is a firm local favourite. No wonder, when you can tuck into hearty food with dreamy views looking out (clue's in the name) over the whole stretch of St. Aubin's Bay. Lookout is always ready to welcome hungry souls in from the cold, with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner served five evenings a week. Book ahead if you can, but don't worry if you feel like dropping in.

The Hungry Man, Rozel

You don’t have to be a hungry man to fit in at this harbourside kiosk, but it certainly helps. Overlooking this pretty fishing harbour, The Hungry Man serves teas and coffees all year round, along with homemade cakes and their speciality - some pretty fine burgers. Coastal walkers might want to reward themselves with local favourite, the ‘Double decker health wrecker’ burger, enjoyed at a table next to the harbour edge.

Le Braye Bistro

Le Braye is a family owned beachside bistro offering simple, fresh and delicious food and drink. Located at the southern end of the sweeping St. Ouen's Bay, it's the perfect place to warm up after a bracing beach walk. Grab a coffee, scrumptious cake or dig into a tasty lunch to recharge for your next adventure.
