A small island packed with opportunities for adventure; in Jersey you’re never more than a few minutes away from the coastline. The island’s landscape will surprise you at every turn as it opens up a natural playground of water, wave and wind-based activities. And with no testing, isolation or travel forms for all arriving visitors you’ll be able to fit all the adventures you can handle into adrenaline-fuelled weekends in Jersey.
So, hold onto your hats, here’s how to make the most of your days.
Foraging walks.
On land.
Start your weekend by getting off the beaten track and finding your path through some of Jersey’s natural habitats with a Bushcraft course; you’ll learn how to forage for edible plants and sea herbs as you navigate along the island’s wild west coast and then build your own fire – all with experienced bushman Kazz Padidar.
Kayaking.
On the water.
Feel like an explorer and navigate around the island by kayak for a unique perspective on Jersey’s clifftop pinnacles and pink granite coastline; it’s said that every trip feels like a mini expedition. Discover the best spots to see sea caves, natural arches carved by the sea and Jersey’s hidden beaches and keep your eyes open for dolphins and seabirds on these all-ability tours.
SUPing.
Paddle out.
Restore your balance on top of the clear blue waters. Connect with the ocean with every stroke as you peer into secret coves and secluded bays. Stand Up Paddleboarding is fast becoming a popular way to not only explore our island shores, but to liberate your spirit, reconnect with nature and restore your soul. Why not see for yourself and experience Jersey’s stunning coastline, whether you’re a complete novice, or a pro, we guarantee you’ll have a smile on your face!
Jet skiing.
Get revved up.
Jump on a jet ski in St. Aubin’s Bay and see the island from a different perspective. Try a half hour Jet Ski Experience, with full tuition and on-water supervision, or why not let the experienced team at Jersey Sea Sport take you on a guided adventure out west, exploring the coastline where you’ll see some of the islands historic defences as well as a wealth of wildlife.
Adventure day.
Raise the pulse.
For the ultimate round-island challenge, try abseiling down the walls of a medieval castle, before kayaking around the coast to meet a high speed RIB waiting to whisk you to one of the island’s most high-adrenaline coasteering routes. If you’re ready for a journey of real adventure, this epic trip can be booked via Jersey Adventures – weather and ability permitting.
Aerial trekking.
High wired.
See Jersey’s woodlands from a new angle as you step out into thin air; ziplining through the trees and making the leap from tree-height platforms, all attached via a body harness of course. Another route of more gentle walkways is better suited for those who prefer to keep their feet closer to the ground at Valley Adventure Centre.
And breathe on a brisk walk.
Jersey’s not short of beautiful sights, but for a coastal walk guaranteed to fill your lungs with fresh sea air and give you picture perfect sea views, try the local favourite route from the causeway at La Corbière Lighthouse to Portelet Bay. This spectacular hike takes you over clifftops and through a nature reserve before winding down to St. Brelade’s Bay for a lunch stop at one of the bay’s restaurants or cafés.
