As the summer crowds fade, Jersey reveals a quieter, richer charm that’s perfect for a seasonal escape. Autumn in Jersey is more than just golden leaves and sea breezes, it’s a time to unwind, explore and reconnect. From revitalising seaside sauna sessions sessions to pumpkin picking, there’s no shortage of memorable ways to enjoy the island.

Here are our top five reasons to fall in love with Jersey this autumn.

1. Get hot… and cold

As autumn settles and the island slows, it’s the perfect time to recharge and embrace Jersey’s wild approach to wellbeing. Step into the warmth of a coastal sauna at St Catherine’s to boost your circulation, ease stress, and awaken your senses. For the ultimate ritual, pair your sauna session with a refreshing sea dip, the perfect blend of heat and cold to leave you feeling truly revived.

2. Stargazing

Grosnez Castle sits on the rugged north coast of the island with panoramic views to our neighbouring islands. But few know this location is a magical stargazing spot. Bring a rug, wrap up warm and watch the night sky come to life, natural and unpolluted from artificial light.

Did you know that the Orionid meteor shower peaks in mid-October? The best time to watch is after midnight, when the radiant point near the constellation Orion is higher in the sky, giving you the best chance to see the meteors.

3. Take an ale tour

Embark on a journey across our island to savour Jersey’s craft ale and cider, where local brewers and artisans create liquid gold. Wander through historic pubs and charming breweries, sampling authentic Jersey ales. Don’t miss out on immersing yourself in the island’s rich fermentation tradition and try Jersey’s true cider, crafted from locally grown apples in the island’s orchards. These crisp, complex drinks offer a taste of Jersey’s agricultural heritage.

Did you know that Jersey has a long-standing tradition of apple cider pressing? The island’s unique climate and fertile soil create the perfect conditions for growing apples, and local orchards have been transforming these fruits into cider for centuries. To truly immerse yourself in Jersey tradition, make tracks to Hamptonne for the annual La Faîs’sie d’Cidre – or cider festival – for local food, frivolities, and family fun!

4. Visit a pumpkin patch

As the island’s fields come alive with vibrant orange hues, local farms open their gates for visitors to wander through and pick their perfect pumpkin. The island’s mild climate and rich soil make for an ideal growing environment, and you’ll find a variety of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. From the classic orange variety to unique heirloom breeds, there’s something for everyone. It’s a fun and family-friendly experience, where you can enjoy the fresh island air, discover local produce, and even take home a piece of Jersey’s harvest to carve, cook, or display.

5. Take on the Jersey Tidal Trail

The Jersey Tidal Trail encompasses the whole of the island’s coastline and is divided into eight bite-sized and beautiful sections. It’s an unforgettable way to experience the island’s natural beauty, with each coast offering something unique, from rugged cliff-top hikes to relaxed harbour-hopping strolls, there’s a section to suit every mood and pace. The north coast offers peaceful coves, stunning rock formations and wildlife-filled nature reserves, ideal for birdwatching and quiet reflection. The east coast is known for its dramatic cliffs and secluded bays, where you can enjoy panoramic views of France across the water on a clear day. The south coast offers a blend of lush green cliffs and sheltered beaches, with spots like Noirmont Point offering incredible views of St. Aubin’s Bay and the capital, St. Helier. Finally the west coast is home to rugged landscapes and picturesque beaches like St. Ouen’s Bay, perfect for sweeping vistas and sunsets. Do one, do them all or mix and match.
