New and unique experiences for 2018

What should be on your Jersey must-do list in 2018? We spoke to the local experts to get the inside scoop on the latest hotel and restaurant openings, exciting new events and all the island experiences you definitely shouldn’t miss. These 12 are at the top of our list for 2018 - which will be your favourite?

Find your perfect place to stay

Where will your island adventure take you? From boutique hotels, beachside guesthouses or places to stay that come with a story at Jersey’s heritage locations, here are the newest places to book in 2018.

Give yourself unique memories of Jersey and be amongst the first to stay in this restored artillery tower, built in 1792. It’s a perfect way to totally disconnect and get back to nature - the sleeping facilities at Archirondel Tower may be rustic, but you’ll be rewarded with a morning sunrise over Jersey’s beautiful east coast from the top of the tower, a dip in the clear water of Archirondel Bay, and then bacon rolls from the beach café. Sleeps 10 with basic facilities, (bring sleeping bags). There is no running water, but public toilets and showers are 100 yards away.

Need a weekend escape with a difference? It might be the oldest pub in Jersey, dating back to 1717, but there’s nothing outdated about the recently-renovated Cheffins at the Beaumont Inn. Original wooden beams, open fires and gloriously decadent cocktails set the scene, and from early 2018, you’ll be able to stay over at a brand new boutique guesthouse. With plenty of character, local food and hand-dived scallops on the bar snacks menu,  treat yourself to a stay in 2018.

The most memorable breaks are often the spontaneous ones. And from this year it’ll be even easier to make your escape to Jersey when the island’s first Premier Inn opens in May 2018. On Jersey’s main shopping street, the new 91-bed hotel will put you right in the heart of the action, with all of St. Helier’s shops, restaurants, bars and visitor attractions within walking distance. Just remember to leave space in your suitcase for all that shopping…

The caffeine revolution

It could be our creamy Jersey milk, or our passion for caffeine-fuelled adventure, but Jersey’s seen more than its fair share of new coffee bars opening their doors. Here are a few of our favourite 2018 hot spots to get your daily caffeine fix and meet the locals over a perfectly-brewed coffee.

This brand new coffee shop is the brainchild of self-confessed coffee geeks who are passionate about bringing modern brewing and extracting techniques to their customers. It’s only just opened its doors, so head down to say hi to the team and discover some lighter roasts, sweeter tastes and a great cup of coffee.

Cosy up with a great brew at this friendly coffee bar, which has just opened a second town location in Beresford Street opposite the Central Market. Perfectly positioned for a pre-shopping pick-me-up, look out for their comfortable snug and don’t miss saying hi to their four-legged clientele - Barista’s dog-friendly policy makes it a hot spot for local pooches and their owners.

It’s not just the coffee that’s reviving a historic part of St. Helier. In May 2018, husband and wife team Drew and Ella Locke are turning a building that’s been preserved and restored by the National Trust for Jersey into a café and alfresco terrace with more than a touch of artistic flair. Described as ‘a place where people can come and create stories and memories’, look out for Locke’s Stories when it opens its doors - and in the meantime, get at tasty preview with the Locke’s coffee cart on King Street outside Roulette Clothing.
