Ideal for sea lovers, being built on the rocks above the south facing bay, it is literally a stone's drop to the water at high tide. It is just a minutes' walk to a slipway to access the sea where you can enjoy a refreshing open-sea swim or launch kayaks or a small boat.
L'Hôpital is a property well known in Jersey and was built in the mid 1800s to function as a small hospital to look after those injured building St. Catherine's Breakwater (less than a mile away) rather than take them into the main town of St Helier on the south coast. The Breakwater was intended to be half of the protection for a port for the British Navy, but for strategic reasons it was never completed, but L'Hôpital remained at the centre of the large, protected bay.
