It’s easy to get away from it all in Jersey. Bring your car or arrange a hire car in Jersey and the island’s all yours to discover - from coastal drives to winding countryside lanes. You’ve got plenty of choice, with over 350 miles of roads, all you’ll have to do is find your route. Let us point you in the right direction with a our east and west drives and suggestions of places to stop.

Day One - East coast exploration

Take the A4 / A3 from St Helier to St Catherine’s - following signs for the coast road, and you’ll be treated to plenty of sea and shoreline vistas. Look out for medieval Martello towers and bays along the way including Green Island, Ann Port and Archirondel and spot our seafaring heritage with tiny fishing harbours and Grouville Bay’s oyster beds uncovered at low tide.

LUNCH
Seafood… and eat it

Your coastal route takes you past The Seymour Inn on the A4, which overlooks the oyster beds at La Rocque and gets the freshest delivery of oysters. You’ll taste the difference - it’s hard to beat fresh oysters eaten just a few metres away from where they were grown.

AFTERNOON ADVENTURE
Capture a castle

Explore Gorey Village with its cafes and fishing cottages, walk to the end of the pier and catch a glimpse of the French coast. Learn more about the island’s stormy relationship with France at the medieval Mont Orgueil castle - an excellently-preserved relic of Jersey’s colourful history and heritage, and soak up the atmosphere of this picturesque harbour village.

Day Two - West coast Adventures

Head west along the A2 / A1 for sea air straight from the Atlantic, and a rollercoaster ride of high cliffs and harbour villages before dropping into the long stretch of St.Ouen’s Bay - known as Five Mile Road. Plenty of opportunities to stop along the way on this scenic drive - here are some of our favourites.

HERITAGE
Noirmont Tower

Feel the fresh sea air and connect with the island’s fascinating military history at Noirmont Point - take the harbourside road through St. Aubin and a steep hill through the village leads to the Noirmont headland. Explore the second world war gun emplacement and battery with stunning views of St. Aubin’s Bay, at the island’s most southerly point.

GO FURTHER
Find the lighthouse

Continue along the A13 and take the loop that leads to Corbière Lighthouse - which has to be one of the island’s most photographed landmarks after our Jersey cows! Accessible at low tide, explore this fascinating 19th century building or walk along the headland for stunning views along Jersey’s coast. Corbière Phare restaurant makes an ideal stop for lunch with lighthouse views.

THE WILD WEST
Reconnect with nature

Take the scenic route along Jersey’s west coast, with the sea on one side and the sand dunes on the other. It’s part of the island’s Coastal National Park and there are plenty of opportunities to explore Jersey’s wild habitats along the way. Why not stop at the National Trust for Jersey’s Wetland Centre and bird hide - spot local wildlife including our Marsh Harriers and learn about our rare environments.
