More Information

Claude Cahun steps out of time, removes her masks, and takes us behind her enigmatic photographic self-portraits. She conjures up a Chorus of Cahuns to enact her extraordinary life story from a difficult childhood in provincial Nantes, via the political and creative excitement of Paris, to an idyllic retreat in Jersey, while always challenging conventions of gender and identity. This new play by Jacqueline Mézec, commissioned by Jersey Arts Centre and directed by Daniel Austin, is provocative, inspiring and moving with its black humour, vivid storytelling and poetry.
