More Information
A prep school now occupies this manor house built in 1753 and remodelled in the 1870s. It is assumed that the then owner planted many of the magnificent specimen trees on the sheltered cotil below the house. Formal lawns surround the house and include a huge walled garden. The house was requisitioned by the Germans in WW2, then owned privately before St George’s School moved in 1979.
Trails through the grounds offer a steep path down the cotil to admire 100 year old Redwoods, Pines, Magnolias and Acers which include the largest in the Island. Exotic species were favoured by plantsmen of the Victorian era who had access to newly introduced trees from around the globe. Enjoy the Woodland Trail and Jersey Trees for Life activities.
