ORCHID FIELD FELT BOWL WORKSHOP WITH BEVERLEY SPECK

Join The National Trust’s Artist In Residence, Beverley Speck, at The Seaside Cafe, Greve de Lecq for this creative textile workshop. Using the orchids of Le Noir Pre for inspiration, Beverley will guide you through creating your own hand-sculpted felt bowl for you to treasure.

ST. OUEN’S COASTAL STRIP WILDFLOWER & FOLKLORE WALK WITH TINA HULL

A walk with local botanist Tina Hull looking at the wildflowers growing along this popular bay. You may be visiting here for the beach or cafes but close at hand are a wonderful range of wildflowers all with interesting folk stories to tell.

ORCHID FIELD OPENING (SELF-GUIDED)

Experience a riot of colour at Le Noir Pré, our orchid meadows, which will be in full bloom. There are three species of orchids found growing in Le Noir Pré: the Southern Marsh Orchid, Jersey Orchid and the Spotted Orchid. Orchid counts take place every two years and since 1995 numbers have increased from 1,500 to over 90,000. As well as orchids there are 80 other flowering plants in the meadows and a wide diversity of insects, reptiles, mammals and birds.

ST. OUEN ‘HINTERLANDS’ WALK WITH CONRAD EVANS

Join the National Trust for Jersey’s Conrad Evans as he takes you on a guided walk through the hinterlands of St. Ouen. You will meander up and down the undulating footways of St. Ouen, behind the typical walking route of the dunes and bay, learning about its history and ecology along the way. CRICKET CHORUS EXPERIENCE AT GRANTEZ WITH LOUISE WHALE

Grantez is home to the locally rare field cricket (Gryllus campestris). Join the Trust’s Conservation Officer, Louise Whale, on a short walk around the dune grasslands to learn about their behaviour and lifecycle. Whilst you are unlikely to see the crickets, you should hear the males chirping away from their burrows.

Experiencing the dawn chorus is truly unique and rewarding; well worth the early rise! Listen to nature’s symphony, one of the most magical moments in the natural world, as the dark of night eases into the breaking dawn throughout the Val de la Mare arboretum. Join the Trust’s Lands Manager, Jon Parkes, as he guides you through La Mare au Seigneur Site of Special Interest, giving insights about this ecological hot-spot and how it is managed for biodiversity. The walk will take you to corners of the reserve where public access is normally restricted, due to the sensitive habitats and protected wildlife, and also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have directly to the people who manage the site.

Discover the fascinating world of bats with the Trust’s Conservation Officer, Louise Whale, on a short walk around St Ouen’s Pond. and spot them in flight.
