Though the years may have slowed him physically, his mind remains sharp, his memories vivid, and his loyalty to the values of service unwavering.

Albert’s story begins in a working-class community in England, where opportunities were limited and military service offered the promise of regular pay, purpose and belonging. As a young man, he enlisted in the Royal Artillery, a branch of the Army known for its precision, technical skill and resilience.

Through Albert’s eyes, discover the realities of life as a gunner — from learning the demanding craft of artillery, handling heavy equipment and maintaining weapons, to the camaraderie and challenges of serving in all conditions.
