Quilter Cheviot presents ORA Singers: Liberté

The spirit of liberation echoes through this programme from the award-winning ORA Singers, which has been specially conceived to mark the 80th Anniversary of Jersey's Liberation. It features the world premiere of a work by acclaimed composer Paweł Łukaszewski, reflecting the poignant text of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Prayer in the time of distress.

More Information

Directed by Suzi Digby OBE, the award-winning ORA Singers perform their programme Liberté as part of the Liberation International Music Festival. Beginning with the theme of The Armed Man, this programme uncovers expressions of mourning and consolation throughout the centuries - with music from Palestrina and Tallis, as well as contemporary composers such as Jonathan Dove and Thomas Hewitt-Jones. At the heart of this programme lies Herbert Howell's deeply moving Requiem and a specially commissioned work by Paweł Łukaszewski. To conclude, ORA perform Poulenc's great evocation of freedom - Liberté from Figure Humaine. "This moving programme will be a special tribute to Jersey and its occupation survivors." - Stephen Fry, ORA Singers President
