More Information

As part of Liberation 80, La fîn du temps f'tha tout vaie (Time Will Tell) celebrates the Jèrriais language, a vital part of Jersey’s cultural heritage, through an engaging and immersive experience. Explore the streets of St Helier on a guided promenade-style walk, led by a local artist, uncovering the Jèrriais street names, their meanings, and the stories they hold. Told from the perspective of a Jersey resident forced to leave the Island due to the Occupation, the walks also reflect on broader themes of displacement, cultural identity, and the impact of losing one's native language. The journey concludes with an optional stop at the “Language Room” in Jersey Museum where visitors can connect with the language through personal stories.
