Surrounded by some of the cleanest waters in Europe, Jersey is a seafood lover’s paradise. Every day, local fishermen bring in an incredible variety of fresh catch – from world-famous oysters and hand-dived scallops to sweet lobster, chancre crab, and line-caught bass.

Whether you’re after a crab sandwich on the harbour wall, mussels by the beach, or a fine-dining seafood feast, Jersey’s seafood restaurants serve the island’s ocean-to-plate story in every dish.

Signature Jersey seafood and where to enjoy it

For some of the best seafood in Jersey, head to these top spots to savour fresh local lobster, crab, Jersey oysters, and line-caught fish straight from the island’s waters.

“Working with seafood from Jersey is a real privilege. The quality and freshness are unmatched, often on the plate just hours after leaving the sea, with barely any travel at all. As fishermen ourselves at Jade-S Fisheries, we see first-hand how special that is. We’re not just harvesting it, we’re stewards of the sea, working to protect what is one of the last truly wild food sources on the planet, using sustainable methods we believe in.

At Driftwood, our beachside restaurant, we’ve created a space to really celebrate that, showcasing the incredible seafood on our doorstep alongside the best of Jersey’s local produce. When ingredients are this fresh, you don’t need to do much, just respect them, and let their natural quality speak for itself.”

Jersey Lobster

Sweet, tender and a summer favourite, Jersey lobster is best enjoyed simply grilled with Jersey garlic butter or in indulgent rolls and salads. For some of the best seafood in Jersey, head to some of these local favourites.

“Jersey’s abundance of seafood, particularly its shellfish is really what inspired me to open Pêtchi and cook the way we do. I see it as an immense privilege to have world class produce literally on our doorstep, and many of our suppliers are friends or people I grew up with. Jersey has a uniquely varied geography for such a small place, and with our huge tidal range and very clean waters it’s perfect for top quality seafood. At Pêtchi we cook over wood and coals, there is something so uniquely delicious about sweet shellfish and the aroma of wood smoke. All the seafood we use such as crab, oysters, scallops, lobsters and cockles etc touches the wood oven and coals in some way, for example the crabs are grilled whole rather than boiled, taking on a delicate aroma of smoke whilst steaming the meat perfectly inside the shell. When you have this quality of ingredient you can keep it so simple and we are so grateful to have that right at home.”

Mussels

Jersey’s “bouchot” mussels are grown on wooden poles in The Royal Bay of Grouville and harvested each spring. Sweet, plump and best enjoyed with Jersey cream or white wine.
