1940-1945: Occupation to Liberation
In WW2, Jersey was demilitarized by the British and then occupied by Nazi Germany for 5 years. The Occupation changed the lives of the Islanders and the appearance of their Island forever! Islanders had to wait until liberated the day after the end of WW2 on 9 May 1945. This tour will give visitors a better understanding of what happened without the sensationalist and incorrect myths.

This tour combines the overlap between those wanting more of a battlefield and military history tour focusing on the military side of the Nazi occupation and those wanting to understand the impact on the local population and everyday life and how they reacted. It is therefore a good introductory tour for all ages. Half of my family remained in Jersey for the 5 years of German Occupation and the other half, being a military family with a pre-war posting in Jersey was evacuated in 1940 only to return and be reunited with the rest of their family after those 5 years. I am therefore fortunate to have some unique family stories that I will share with you.
All my tours are private, so they are just for you, and you are not joining a larger group.
