Intertidal Walk to Icho Tower
Accessible on foot only on the lowest tides of the year, this remote tower sits atop a small islet and is a haven for seabirds. Walk through shallow pools and streams past oyster beds and enjoy the quietude and being out in the wonderful natural environment that is exposed as the tide recedes. Duration: 4 hrs. This guided walk is not suitable for young children. A good level of fitness and an ability to keep up a good walking pace over several hours is required. Be prepared to get your feet wet, and wellies are recommended, especially during the cooler months. Icho Tower is an iconic landmark in the seascape of the south east coast of Jersey. Walk out to it along the exposed seabed and marvel at the courage of the brave masons who weathered storms and isolation during the building of this structure.

The terrain encountered during this walk may be uneven and sometimes unstable sand and gravel. Participants will need to walk through water and over rocky ground that may be covered by slippery seaweed, and keep up a sustained pace for several hours.
