The UK Intellectual Property office defines a copyright as "A right that protects many types of work, from music and lyrics to photographs and patterns" Typically a copyright covers the written or spoken words and images

In Jersey and the UK you don't need to register a copyright but, should the ownership rights ever be contested, you do need a means of proving that the copyright belongs to you, by keeping a version on record. The main areas copyright that you might post on our site are:

  • Brochures on products and services
  • All business procedures
  • All drawings/images/photographs
  • Website copy
  • Packaging Images
  • Product/Service instructions
  • Video demonstrations both internal and posted on social media

Here at Visit Jersey we respect the rights of all artists and creative people worldwide and ask that anybody who posts on our site respects the copyright of others

What is Copyright Infringement?

Copyright infringement occurs when you do certain things with a creative work which someone else produced without first getting their permission.  An example of copyright infringement is Placing someone else's photograph work online without proper permission. It doesn't matter how you obtained the material, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission.

If you feel your copyright has been infringed then please email product@visitjersey.je
