Travelling with your furry friend
Bringing your pet to Jersey is as easy as a game of fetch. If you’re travelling from the UK, Isle of Man or other Channel Islands, your furry friend can join you hassle free – no pet passport required. Just be sure your chosen accommodation welcomes four-legged guests.
If you’re coming from outside the UK, including the Republic of Ireland, there are restrictions in place. For the latest travel requirements, reach out to the Environment Department at +44 (0) 1534 441600 (Monday to Friday) or drop them an email at [email protected].

Travelling by ferry
From 28 March 2025, DFDS will be Jersey’s new ferry provider, making island escapes even easier for you and your furry second mate. If you’re sailing from Portsmouth to Jersey, you can book a pet-friendly cabin so your dog can travel in comfort. On other DFDS routes, pets will need to stay in your vehicle.

Travelling by air
Blue Islands makes travelling with your furry co-pilot easy! From 01 March 2025, you can fly with your dog from Guernsey, Southampton, or Exeter to Jersey – just be sure they’re snug in an approved pet carrier.

The Portelet Inn
Jersey's premier family pub, The Portelet Inn is a 16th century inn with real olde-worlde charm. Grab a table in the loft or the alfresco seating for sweeping views out to sea overlooking Portelet Bay. Cosy up in The Granite Bar with its real fireplace, low beams and comfy armchairs whilst sampling a wide range of cask ales, lagers and wines.
The Windmill by Jersey Kitchen
Run by the highly acclaimed Jersey Kitchen as a "posh cafe" and already a local favourite. Beautiful decor and a modern menu using freshest local produce, freshly baked cakes and pastries and one of the best fry ups in the island. Fully licensed (with excellent house wine) this is a "must do destination" Specials board changes weekly.
Trinity Arms
Enjoy reassuring country pub classics, seafood and steaks from the Plancha grill and fantastic Sunday roasts paired with our selection of award-winning beers. With the addition of outside booths you can now enjoy long chilled evenings in the garden. For those colder nights, take a seat around the built in fire pit.
FOUR Artisan Bakery & Chocolaterie
An artisan bakery, coffee house and chocolaterie. Fresh handcrafted organic sourdough savoury and sweet delights including traditional French baguettes, vegan friendly cakes, focaccia, croissants, brownies and more are prepared fresh every morning using only the finest ingredients.
The Moorings Hotel & Restaurant
Welcoming guests since 1851, The Moorings is a local institution at the heart of the most recognisable location in Jersey, Gorey Pier. Following fresh investment in 2021, the restaurant is a firm favourite amongst locals and visitors.
The Merchants
A community focused Coffee Shop Gallery in the heart of St. Helier. We are a family friendly place to enjoy art and photography, serving speciality Dark Arts Coffee, Rare Tea and brunch whilst being able to play and listen to vinyl. El Tico Beach Cantina
Visit Jersey’s original beach café, and possibly one of Britain’s original surf schools, hiring out boards since 1948. Perched on the very edge of the beach and in the middle of one of the finest surf bays in Europe. El Tico Beach Cantina, is a world class destination for fabulous food, great wine and glorious beachside sunsets.
The Ranch East
Hi Ranchers! We are a friendly restaurant that serves delicious breakfast, lunch and even the occasional BBQ. We are children and pet friendly and welcome everyone with open arms. There is a large beer garden outside with a kids play area and toy sheds. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much for them, just ask!
The Old Smugglers Inn
One of the island's outstanding traditional pub eateries found nestled in the beautiful Ouaisné Bay. Popular with locals and visitors to the island offering a superb selection of real ales, ciders and wines to accompany our delicious menu of pub fare. Jersey is a paradise for pups who love to explore, with endless walks awaiting. From the stunning beaches of St. Ouen’s Bay to the picturesque country lanes, your furry friend will have endless places to sniff and wander. Many trails offer the perfect opportunity for an off-lead romp, but be mindful of seasonal regulations – some areas might have restrictions.

Jersey’s doggy dos & don’ts
To keep tails wagging and paws exploring, here are a few friendly reminders for visiting Jersey with your four-legged friend:
✔️ Do keep your dog on a lead in public places, unless signs say otherwise. Many beaches and open spaces allow off-lead fun, but always check for seasonal restrictions.
✔️ Do clean up after your dog—poo bags are a must, and bins are widely available. Let’s keep Jersey’s beaches and trails clean and beautiful!
✔️ Do respect wildlife and livestock by keeping dogs under control, especially in the countryside.
❌ Don’t let dogs off-lead in restricted areas, including certain beaches during peak season (May to September).
❌ Don’t leave your pup unattended in cars—Jersey’s sunshine can heat up quickly!
❌ Don’t assume all cafés and restaurants are pet-friendly—always check ahead.
